Dental Emergencies Can Hit Anyone at Anytime

Are you prepared to handle dental emergencies should they occur in the middle of the night or on weekends when your dentist may not be available. Dental pain, swelling and bleeding can happen to anyone and learning how to handle these emergencies can be the difference between a good night’s sleep and a night of worry and anxiety.

If you’re interested you can find the answers to basic dental emergency questions and, if you really want to be prepared, purchase the 911 Dental Online DVD at http://www.911dentalonline.com/.

This DVD is narrated by Dr. Cary Ganz, a dentist with over thirty-five years of private practice experience. He is also a national and international lecturer and the author of “I Love My Dentist”.

Technology Works In Dentistry

Technology is truly amazing. A patient of mine was unable to talk because of recent oral surgery but needed to make an appointment with our office. So, what did she do?

She went to our website, http://www.ganzdental.com, and started using our chat technology found on every page in our site. I happen to be sitting at my desk and received the message personally. I was able to help the patient and had our staff take it from there.

She now has an appointment and on the way to recovery.

When someone tells me that having all of this technology is a waste, I say humbug!

Additionally, jus the other night I was able to help another woman in a town far away from my own with a problem she had that needed immediate attention. Her front tooth came out and she didn’t know what to do. She had a wedding in just about an hour and needed that tooth back in right away. No dentist was available. She got to my site, http://www.911dentalonline.com and started to chat with me about her problem. I was actually sitting at home at the time watching TV and working at the same time. I put her in the right direction sending her to her drugstore for temporary cement and saved the wedding. Kind of cool…..

She told me “that I was her hero!”

Second Dental Opinions Now Available Online

Something new to talk about today called Second Dental Opinions Online. This new and exciting website was designed to help patients find a way to get a second opinion concerning their dental care without having to visit another dental office. Sometimes it’s just easier to have a remote, unbiased opinion from a dental professional who has no personal agenda.

This website walks the patient through a step by step process of compiling the necessary information so that a thorough evaluation can be accomplished. It is well understood that since their is no physical clinical examination, the thoughts and suggestions made do have limitations but, with that being said, a great deal of helpful information can be provided.

On the site there are also tools that the patient can take advantage of that will also help them when they have to make this all important health care decision.

Saving Me Some Real Embarrassment

I’m sure this has happened to just about every dentist at one time or another. You’re sitting in your favorite restaurant and you turn around and there is a patient of yours sitting in the next table. They haven’t noticed you yet but there is no doubt that at any moment they will see your smiling face and you’ll have to say hello.

The only problem is you can’t remember their name. They were in your office only a few days before but a total mental block has set in and there is nothing going on in that brain of yours. You go through the alphabet, you try calling your office manager but no answer and you’re now on your own.

Well, this happened to me just the other day. What saved me was Denticon, my web based practice management system with iPhone support. I saw the patient and knew they were in just a week or so ago. I logged onto Denticon using my iPhone (crouching low so no one saw me), opened my appointment scheduler, checked the last couple of days and sure enough Scott’s name was there.

After breathing a quick sigh of relief, I jumped up from under the table and immediately walked over to Warren’s table and greeted him with a huge hello.

Now this may seem like a relatively small matter to some but the fact that I was saved from a potentially embarassing situation was terrific. I was actually able to introduce my wife and son to Warren rather than faking it.

Dinner was great too……

Online Patient Registration Now Available

One of the advantages of being an ASP Internet based software user is the ability for our patients to complete their registration forms online . This process online can save time in the office filling out all of those nagging forms manually. It also allows the patient to relax prior to their dental visit instead of having to concentrate on all of the minutia necessary in completing the registration forms. We have also installed a tablet computer in our reception room for those patients that do not have a computer available to them at home and still want to complete their forms online while in the office. The process is really simple and automatically updates our management software instantaneously. The paperless office all dentists have looked for is almost here. Stay tuned for future updates on this exciting new development.

Cosmetic Imaging Helps Dental Patient Make an Important Decision

We just had a patient, a young girl, that needs to have her entire upper jaw restored. Not important right now why, but take it for granted that the restoration of every upper tooth is necessary not only for aesthetic reasons but more so for proper function.

Her chief concern was “what will I look like”. She had specific requests and even brought pictures of herself to show exactly what she was looking to accomplish. Our promise to her was that we would do everything possible to achieve these lofty goals.

Our first step in this process is a cosmetic imaging of her existing teeth. This is accomplished by taking good digital photographs, completing a prescription and then sending this via the Internet to SmileVision. SmileVision has a team of artists that will transfer the image we send to them and create the smile our patient has always wanted. We can then show the before and after and make any changes necessary to satisfy our hopeful patient.

This technique can go a long way to provide the kind of communication necessary between doctor and patient that can insure the results necessary to satisfy our patient.

Guesswork just never works!
